A polished but fairly standard celebrity concert special. Adele's vocal performances are genuinely impressive and the Oprah interview adds personal depth, but the format is conventional TV special fare with little cinematic ambition. Cinematography is competent and flattering without being distinctive. Novelty is low — the concert-plus-interview format is well-worn territory, and while Adele herself is singular, the presentation is formulaic. The emotional resonance of her performances elevates it above average in the acting/performance category.
