A girl dying of leukemia compiles a list of things she'd like to do before passing away. Topping the list is her desire to lose her virginity.
Now Is Good is a competent but fairly formulaic terminal-illness teen romance that follows well-worn narrative paths established by similar YA adaptations. Dakota Fanning delivers a committed performance and the supporting cast is solid, elevating what could have been purely maudlin material. The cinematography is pleasant but unremarkable. The plot hits predictable beats common to the dying-young subgenre without adding much fresh perspective, and the novelty is limited given the crowded field of similar stories. The ending is emotionally effective if expected, landing on the right emotional note without surprising anyone.
