A straight-laced bank manager is about to marry the love of his life. When his bank is held up by infamous Ghost Bandits during his wedding week, he believes his future in-laws who just arrived in town, are the infamous Out-Laws.
The Out-Laws is a formulaic comedy that leans heavily on well-worn premise territory — the straight-laced protagonist vs. chaotic in-laws — with minimal fresh twists. The plot mechanics are predictable and the comedic beats feel recycled from better genre entries. Adam DeVine and Pierce Brosnan bring some watchable energy that lifts the acting slightly above the material, but the supporting cast is inconsistently deployed. Cinematography is workmanlike Netflix-action fare with nothing distinctive. The ending resolves exactly as expected with no meaningful surprises. Overall a passable but unremarkable streaming comedy that earns its middling reputation.
