In a world where superpowered people are heavily policed by robots, an ex-con teams up with a drug lord he despises to protect a teen from a corrupt cop.
Code 8 Part II is a serviceable sci-fi action sequel that builds on the original's low-budget superhero-meets-crime-drama premise. The plot is fairly formulaic — corrupt cop villain, reluctant alliance, protecting an innocent — offering little surprise. Acting is competent with Robbie and Stephen Amell delivering solid if unremarkable performances. Cinematography is workmanlike and functional for its budget, occasionally stylish but rarely distinctive. Novelty is low as it recycles the original's world and themes without meaningfully expanding them, feeling like a by-the-numbers sequel. The ending wraps things up predictably without much emotional payoff, consistent with a mid-tier genre entry.
