Look Who's Talking Too (1990)

Quartile rating: 5/10 · 1 rating

Mollie and James are together and raising a family, which now consists of an older Mikey and his baby sister, Julie. Tension between the siblings arises, and as well with Mollie and James when Mollie's brother Stuart moves in. Mikey is also learning how to use the toilet for the first time.

The Quartile Take

Look Who's Talking Too is a largely unnecessary sequel that recycles the central gimmick of babies speaking in celebrity voices (this time adding Roseanne Barr and Damon Wayans) without adding much fresh material. The plot is thin and episodic, juggling marital strife and sibling rivalry with little dramatic coherence. The acting from the adult cast (Kirstie Alley, John Travolta) is serviceable but uninspired, and the film lacks the novelty that made the original modestly charming. Cinematography is functional at best. The ending attempts a heartwarming reconciliation but feels rushed and unearned, consistent with the overall formulaic execution.
