While scavenging the deep ends of a derelict space station, a group of young space colonizers come face to face with the most terrifying life form in the universe.
Alien: Romulus delivers exceptional visual craft and atmosphere — the derelict station is rendered with genuine dread and tactile grime that ranks among the series' best cinematography. The acting ensemble is solid if unremarkable, with Cailee Spaeny carrying much of the emotional weight competently. The plot, however, leans heavily on franchise nostalgia and familiar Alien beats, recycling set-pieces and story structures from the original films without significantly building on them. The ending stumbles with a CGI-heavy, fan-service-driven climax involving a controversial legacy character that undermines the tension built throughout. Novelty is low — while competently executed, it offers little new to the Alien mythology and functions largely as a greatest-hits remix for a new generation.
