In 1956 France, a priest is violently murdered, and Sister Irene begins to investigate. She once again comes face-to-face with a powerful evil.
The Nun II is a serviceable but largely formulaic sequel that retreads familiar Conjuring Universe ground. The plot follows a predictable investigative horror structure with few surprises, and the ending fails to deliver meaningful payoff or raise stakes beyond the original. Acting is competent — Taissa Farmiga brings earnestness to Sister Irene and Storm Reid adds some energy — but the material constrains them. Cinematography captures the gothic 1950s French atmosphere reasonably well, with some effective set pieces and moody lighting, though nothing particularly distinctive. Novelty is low given its derivative nature as a sequel recycling demonic possession and convent horror tropes without a fresh angle.
