An idyllic summer turns into a nightmare of unspeakable terror for yet another group of naïve friends. Ignoring Camp Crystal Lake's bloody legacy, one by one they fall victim to the maniacal Jason, who stalks them at every turn...
Friday the 13th Part III is notable primarily for introducing Jason's iconic hockey mask and its original 3D presentation, but beyond that gimmick it is a formulaic slasher entry. The plot is threadbare even by slasher standards — a group of stock teens head to a lakeside property and are killed one by one with zero narrative development. Acting is serviceable at best, fitting genre norms without distinction. Cinematography earns a slight bump because the 3D photography led to some deliberately composed shots and creative kill setups that give it mild visual interest beyond the average entry. Novelty is low — it is a by-the-numbers sequel recycling the same template, with the 3D gimmick being its only real distinguishing trait. The ending rehashes the dream-sequence shock finale of earlier entries without adding anything meaningful.
