Quartile rating: 5/10 · 1 rating
A group of National Guard trainees on a routine mission find themselves up against cannibalistic mutants in the New Mexico desert.
A formulaic slasher sequel that recycles the mutant-cannibal-in-the-desert premise from the 2006 remake with minimal invention. National Guard trainees replace the family unit but the beats are identical: isolation, mutant attacks, dwindling survivors. The plot offers no surprises, the acting is serviceable at best, cinematography is competent but generic genre fare, and the ending resolves predictably. It earns the lowest Novelty score as a derivative sequel to a remake that adds almost nothing distinctive to the franchise or the horror genre.
