On a cold Christmas Eve, selfish miser Ebenezer Scrooge has one night left to face his past — and change the future — before time runs out.
Yet another adaptation of Dickens' A Christmas Carol, this animated musical Netflix offering brings little new to one of the most frequently retold stories in cinematic history. The plot is utterly faithful to the well-worn source material with no meaningful reimagining, earning it a very low Novelty score. The animation is competent and visually polished with some energy in its musical sequences, and the voice cast performs adequately. The ending is emotionally satisfying in the way any Scrooge redemption arc tends to be, but offers nothing surprising. Overall a serviceable but deeply derivative holiday offering that adds little to the canon.
