From his poor childhood to his rise to fame, from his triumphs to his failures, from Paris to New York, discover the exceptional journey of an artist. Intimate, intense, fragile and indestructible, devoted to his art until the very end, here is one of the most immortal singers of all time: MONSIEUR AZNAVOUR.
Monsieur Aznavour follows the well-worn biopic template — poverty to stardom, personal struggles, triumph through perseverance — without meaningfully subverting the genre's conventions, keeping Novelty modest. Tahar Rahim's performance as Aznavour is the clear standout, capturing the singer's physicality, vulnerability, and relentless drive with exceptional commitment and earning a 4 in Acting. The cinematography is competent and period-appropriate without being especially distinctive. The plot covers an impressively wide span of Aznavour's life but remains episodic and conventional in structure. The ending, arriving at the twilight of his career, is emotionally resonant but handled in a fairly standard elegiac fashion typical of the genre.
