Inspired by New York City streetball, influential brand AND1 turned local legends on the court into international icons. So why did it come to an end?
Untold: The Rise and Fall of AND1 is an engaging documentary that chronicles the meteoric rise and surprising collapse of the AND1 streetball brand. The narrative arc is compelling — rags-to-riches to dysfunction — with genuine tension around internal conflicts, business decisions, and cultural impact. The talking-head format is fairly standard for the Netflix Untold series, and cinematography relies heavily on archival footage with little visual ambition. Novelty is moderate: the AND1 mixtape era is a fascinating, underexplored chapter in basketball and sneaker culture, giving the film a distinctive subject even if the documentary form itself is conventional. The ending provides reasonable closure but doesn't land with particular punch.
