Quartile rating: 6/10 · 1 rating
Three bounty hunters from space fly back to the town of Grovers Bend, hoping to save local residents from a new batch of Critter eggs.
Critters 2 is a fairly by-the-numbers horror-comedy sequel that recycles the core premise of its predecessor with modest Easter holiday window dressing. The plot offers little beyond the original's small-town alien siege formula, and the acting is serviceable B-movie fare at best. Cinematography is competent for the era and budget but unremarkable. The Easter egg hunt setup and the memorable giant Critter ball sequence give the ending slightly more energy and inventiveness than the rest of the film, earning it a modest bump. Novelty suffers from being a formulaic sequel with recycled ideas, though the holiday setting provides a sliver of distinction.
