An English auctioneer proposes to the daughter of a mafia kingpin, only to realize that certain "favors" would be asked of him.

The Quartile Take

Mickey Blue Eyes is a fairly formulaic fish-out-of-water mob comedy that doesn't do much to distinguish itself from similar genre entries of the era. Hugh Grant's bumbling Englishman-meets-the-mob premise has some charm and his comedic timing elevates the material, but the plot is predictable and the jokes rarely land with real impact. The cinematography is competent but unremarkable, and the ending wraps up too neatly without much surprise. It's a watchable but forgettable mid-tier comedy that coasts on its premise without fully exploiting it.
