Officer Carey Mahoney and his cohorts have finally graduated from the Police Academy and are about to hit the streets on their first assignment. Question is, are they ready to do battle with a band of graffiti-tagging terrorists? Time will tell, but don't sell short this cheerful band of doltish boys in blue.
A straightforward sequel that recycles the formula of the original without adding much new—same character archetypes, similar gag structures, and a thin crime premise involving graffiti vandals. The plot is minimal and episodic, the acting is broad and functional rather than skilled, and the cinematography is entirely workmanlike TV-level execution. Novelty is genuinely low: this is a by-the-numbers follow-up that trades on familiarity rather than any distinctive voice or fresh conception. The ending wraps things up predictably with no real surprise or resonance. A serviceable but thoroughly derivative comedy sequel.
