Newlyweds Nick and Suzanne decide to move to the suburbs to provide a better life for their two kids. But their idea of a dream home is disturbed by a contractor with a bizarre approach to business.
Are We Done Yet? is a formulaic family comedy remake/sequel that recycles well-worn renovation disaster and fish-out-of-water tropes with little originality. The plot is predictable and by-the-numbers, following a clear template of suburban misadventures without surprise. Ice Cube and the cast deliver serviceable but unremarkable performances suited to the low-ambition material. Cinematography is standard, functional, and indistinguishable from countless other mid-2000s family comedies. Novelty is genuinely poor — this is a sequel to a remake (Are We There Yet?), recycling familiar slapstick scenarios with no distinctive voice or craft. The ending resolves everything as expected with feel-good tidiness, leaving no impression.
