Dan Morgan is many things: a devoted husband, a loving father, a celebrated car salesman. He's also a former assassin. And when his past catches up to his present, he's forced to take his unsuspecting family on a road trip unlike any other.
The Family Plan is a perfectly watchable but formulaic action-comedy that recycles the 'secret agent with a family' premise well-worn by films like True Lies and The Spy Who Dumped Me. Mark Wahlberg is serviceable and the family dynamic provides some genuine laughs, but the plot hits every predictable beat without surprise. Cinematography is functional streaming-service fare with no visual distinction. Novelty is low — the hidden-identity assassin-dad concept is thoroughly derivative. The ending wraps things up in a crowd-pleasing if unsurprising way, earning a slight bump for delivering on its modest promises.
