A middle-aged couple suspects foul play when their neighbor's wife suddenly drops dead.
Woody Allen's charming late-career comedy-mystery benefits enormously from the crackling chemistry between Allen and Diane Keaton, reuniting after Annie Hall. The performances across the board are lively and naturalistic, with Keaton particularly energetic. The plot is a pleasantly convoluted Hitchcock homage — fun and breezy but not especially surprising. Cinematography is competent New York location work without particular distinction. The climactic mirror sequence is a clever nod to Orson Welles but leans on borrowed imagery. Novelty is moderate — it's a recognizable Allen formula (neurotic New Yorkers, witty banter, literary references) executed with infectious energy but without the singular ambition of his best work.
