A holiday-hating detective is forced to solve a murder — and save Christmas — with help from famous trainees who must improv their way through the case.
A holiday spin-off of the Murderville format, this TV special leans into its improv-comedy gimmick with celebrity guests navigating an unscripted murder mystery. The format remains the same as the series — famous faces improvising through scripted scenes without knowing the killer — so novelty is present but not exceptional. The plot is thin and holiday-themed by design, serving mainly as scaffolding for comedic moments. Acting quality depends heavily on the guests' willingness to commit, which is inconsistent. Cinematography is functional TV-movie level. The ending, while delivering the requisite reveal, lacks surprise or dramatic weight.
