In the near future, on a decimated Earth, Paul and his twin sons face terror at night when ferocious creatures awaken. When Paul is nearly killed, the boys come up with a plan for survival, using everything their father taught them to keep him alive.
Arcadian is a competent but largely derivative post-apocalyptic creature-feature that hits familiar survival horror beats without adding much fresh to the genre. The farmhouse-siege setup and monstrous nocturnal predators echo A Quiet Place and similar films, keeping Novelty low. Nicolas Cage's presence elevates the acting above average, but the twin sons are serviceable rather than standout. The cinematography captures the bleak, desolate atmosphere adequately with some decent nocturnal tension sequences, though nothing visually distinctive. The plot is thin and relies heavily on genre conventions — isolated family, mysterious catastrophe, creatures with specific weaknesses — without developing the world or characters meaningfully. The ending feels abrupt and unsatisfying, failing to deliver a strong emotional or narrative payoff, leaving too many threads unresolved.
