A Hong Kong detective suffers a fatal accident involving a mysterious medallion and is transformed into an immortal warrior with superhuman powers.
The Medallion is a middling Jackie Chan vehicle that blends martial arts action with fantasy and slapstick comedy to underwhelming effect. The plot is formulaic and thinly constructed, never capitalizing on its supernatural premise in interesting ways. Chan's physicality remains watchable but the material lets him down, and the supporting cast delivers broadly comedic performances that feel forced. Cinematography is serviceable with some decent action choreography, though far below Chan's Hong Kong peak work. The film offers little that is distinctive or original — it feels like a generic Hollywood-ized Chan product recycling familiar tropes. The ending wraps up predictably without satisfying payoff.
