Gang leader Tony pulls off a major diamond heist with his crew, but cop-turned-criminal Ling knows who has the loot and responds by kidnapping Tony's daughter and holding her for ransom. Unfortunately, Tony's lost the diamonds as well. As he frantically searches for his daughter and the jewels, Tony pairs with a high-kicking government agent who once worked with Ling and seeks revenge on him.
Cradle 2 the Grave is a fairly formulaic early-2000s action pairing of Jet Li and DMX, following the same blueprint as their prior collaboration Romeo Must Die. The plot is a by-the-numbers kidnapping-and-MacGuffin chase with little surprise. Acting is perfunctory — DMX is charismatic but limited, and Li's English-language work remains constrained. Cinematography has some energy in its fight choreography and urban settings, typical of the era's slick MTV-influenced action style. Novelty is low given how derivative it is of the Li-DMX formula already established. The ending resolves predictably without memorable payoff.
