Dirty Harry Callahan returns again, this time saddled with a rookie female partner. Together, they must stop a terrorist group consisting of angry Vietnam veterans.
The third Dirty Harry entry follows a well-worn formula, offering little beyond the series blueprint. The female partner dynamic adds modest freshness to Harry's gruff persona, and Tyne Daly brings genuine credibility to the role. San Francisco locations are competently shot but without the visual flair of the original. The plot involving Vietnam vet terrorists is routine, and the film coasts largely on Eastwood's charisma rather than any strong narrative construction. The Alcatraz climax provides a solid if unsurprising finale. A serviceable but derivative entry in the franchise.
