Raised by wild animals since childhood, Mowgli is drawn away from the jungle by the beautiful Kitty. But Mowgli must eventually face corrupt Capt. Boone, who wants both Kitty's hand and the treasures of Monkey City – a place only Mowgli can find.
This live-action adaptation of The Jungle Book (1994) takes a more adventure-romance angle compared to the animated classic, but struggles to carve out a truly distinctive identity. The plot feels formulaic, leaning heavily on a predictable villain-treasure-romance structure that adds little to the source material. Acting is serviceable but unremarkable, with Jason Scott Lee doing his best in a largely wordless role but the supporting cast delivering uneven performances. Cinematography benefits from lush on-location jungle footage, giving it some visual appeal. Novelty is limited — while the live-action approach was a departure, the execution feels generic and by-the-numbers. The ending wraps up predictably with little emotional payoff.
