Die Hart (2023)

Quartile rating: 6/10 · 1 rating

Kevin Hart - playing a version of himself - is on a death-defying quest to become an action star. And with a little help from John Travolta, Nathalie Emmanuel, and Josh Hartnett - he just might pull it off.

The Quartile Take

Die Hart is a meta-comedy built around Kevin Hart lampooning his own public image and desire to be taken seriously as an action star. The film-within-a-film conceit gives it a modicum of novelty and Hart's self-deprecating energy carries the acting category above average, with Travolta leaning into his campy villain role. However, the plot is thin and formulaic even by parody standards, hitting predictable beats without much surprise. Cinematography is functional at best — competent action staging but nothing distinctive. The ending wraps up without any real payoff or wit beyond what was established early on, making it feel like a prolonged sketch rather than a satisfying feature.
