Brilliant student Jeff Chang has the most important interview of his life tomorrow. But today is still his birthday, what starts off as a casual celebration with friends evolves into a night of debauchery that risks to derail his life plan.
21 & Over is a formulaic party comedy that follows a well-worn template established by films like The Hangover and Project X. The plot is entirely predictable, the characters are stock archetypes, the cinematography is functional at best with no distinctive visual style, and the ending wraps up in a tidy but unearned fashion. The film offers very little that feels fresh or distinctive within the genre, though it delivers some competent laughs along the way. All categories land solidly in below-to-average territory with no standout dimension.
