The Quartile Take

Lucky Luke and the Daltons is a live-action adaptation of the beloved French comic series that largely fails to capture the charm of its source material. The plot is formulaic and predictable, following the bumbling Dalton brothers through generic western antics without much invention. The acting is broad and cartoonish in an awkward way that doesn't translate well from page to screen. Cinematography is serviceable but unremarkable for the genre. The film offers little novelty beyond the IP recognition, recycling slapstick tropes without a distinctive voice. The ending resolves things in a rote, unsatisfying manner. Overall a below-average adaptation that disappoints fans of the original comics.
