In 1889, seventeen men die under mysterious circumstances, and spooked by recent events, the miners who populate the town leave in droves until there's nothing left but a shell of a community.
Tremors 4 earns mild novelty points for transplanting the franchise's graboid formula into an 1889 Western setting, giving the series a fresh period backdrop and a comedic fish-out-of-water protagonist. However, the plot is formulaic even within the franchise's own template, the acting is generally underwhelming outside of Michael Gross's enjoyable dual-role performance, the cinematography is TV-movie level with little visual ambition, and the ending wraps up predictably with no real surprises. A serviceable but unremarkable entry that coasts on franchise goodwill.
