In the near future, a 'Grand Lottery' has been established - the catch: kill the winner before sundown to legally claim their multi-billion dollar jackpot. When Katie Kim mistakenly finds herself with the winning ticket, she reluctantly joins forces with amateur lottery protection agent Noel Cassidy who must get her to sundown in exchange for a piece of her prize.
Jackpot! works on a fun, high-concept premise — a deadly lottery where killing the winner is legal — that gives it enough novelty to stand apart from generic action-comedies, though the execution is fairly formulaic once the chase is underway. The plot is breezy and propulsive but thin, leaning heavily on the single gimmick. Acting from the leads is charming and game without being exceptional. Cinematography is serviceable action-comedy fare set against Los Angeles backdrops, nothing visually distinctive. The ending wraps up predictably without much surprise or punch, consistent with its middling reputation.
