Lenny has relocated his family back to the small town where he and his friends grew up. This time around, the grown ups are the ones learning lessons from their kids on a day notoriously full of surprises—the last day of school.
Grown Ups 2 is widely regarded as one of the laziest comedy sequels in recent memory. The plot is essentially non-existent — a series of loosely connected lowbrow gags with no narrative momentum. The acting is serviceable from a talented cast (Sandler, James, Spade, Rock) but they're given almost nothing to work with. Cinematography is flat and functional, typical of a studio comedy with no visual ambition. Novelty is extremely low — it retreads the first film's formula while stripping away even the modest charm of the original. The ending resolves nothing because there's little to resolve, delivering another round of slapstick with no emotional payoff.
