When former getaway driver Charlie Bronson jeopardises his Witness Protection Plan identity in order to help his girlfriend get to Los Angeles, the feds and Charlie's former gang chase them on the road.
Hit & Run is a modestly entertaining but largely unremarkable action-comedy road movie. The plot is a fairly generic blend of witness protection tropes and road-trip hijinks with few surprises. The acting is serviceable but uneven, with Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell sharing natural chemistry that carries the film more than the script does. Cinematography is functional and pedestrian, with some decent car chase sequences but nothing visually distinctive. Novelty is low — the film treads well-worn territory combining the fugitive-on-the-run formula with romantic comedy beats without adding much that feels fresh. The ending wraps up predictably and without much punch. An amiable but forgettable mid-tier effort.
