Stuart, an adorable white mouse, still lives happily with his adoptive family, the Littles, on the east side of Manhattan's Central Park. More crazy mouse adventures are in store as Stuart, his human brother, George, and their mischievous cat, Snowbell, set out to rescue a friend.
Stuart Little 2 is a perfectly serviceable family sequel that rehashes the charm of the original without adding much new. The plot is thin and formulaic — a rescue mission with predictable beats and little tension. The acting from the human cast (Geena Davis, Hugh Laurie) is warm but unremarkable, while the voice performances (Michael J. Fox as Stuart, Melanie Griffith as Margalo) are likable. The CGI-live action hybrid remains competent for its era but doesn't push any boundaries beyond what the first film established. Novelty is low as it treads familiar ground from its predecessor with a by-the-numbers sequel structure. The ending resolves neatly but without any memorable emotional payoff, feeling rushed and overly tidy.
