The Making-of James Cameron's Avatar. It shows interesting parts of the work on the set.
A behind-the-scenes documentary on Avatar's production that offers genuine insight into groundbreaking filmmaking technology and the creation of Pandora, but remains a fairly standard making-of piece. Its interest lies in the scope and audacity of the Avatar project itself rather than any distinctive documentary craft. Plot and narrative structure are minimal as expected for the genre, acting is irrelevant, and the ending offers little resolution beyond a promotional wrap-up. Cinematography earns a modest above-average for capturing the scale of production, while novelty gets a slight bump for covering genuinely unprecedented filmmaking techniques.
