A crew of miniature aliens operate a spaceship that has a human form. While trying to save their planet, the aliens encounter a new problem, as their ship becomes smitten with an Earth woman.
Meet Dave is a forgettable Eddie Murphy vehicle that squanders a reasonably inventive high-concept premise. The idea of a human-shaped alien spaceship piloted by a tiny crew has some novelty to it, borrowing loosely from classic body-comedy and Innerspace territory but executed with a distinct enough comedic spin to stand apart. However, the plot is thin and predictable, hitting every expected family-comedy beat without surprise. Murphy's performance is intentionally robotic but grows tiresome, and the supporting cast is largely wasted. Cinematography is competent but unremarkable network-movie level. The ending resolves too neatly and without emotional payoff, leaving little impression.
