Martin Lawrence plays Jamal, an employee in Medieval World amusement park. After nearly drowning in the moat, he awakens to find himself in 14th century England.
Black Knight is a fairly forgettable fish-out-of-water comedy that leans heavily on Martin Lawrence's persona without offering much beyond the premise. The time-travel-to-medieval-England concept is well-worn, and the execution is mostly formulaic. Lawrence brings energy but the script doesn't support him well. Cinematography is functional at best, and the ending resolves predictably. Novelty is low given the derivative premise borrowed from Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court territory. Nothing stands out as genuinely exceptional or genuinely terrible — it's a mediocre across-the-board effort.
