The Quartile Take

Common Wealth (El otro lado de la cama director Emilio Martínez Lázaro's earlier work) is a serviceable Spanish comedy-thriller built around a fun premise — a real estate agent stumbling onto a hidden fortune and navigating a cast of eccentric neighbors. The plot is functional but predictable, following familiar treasure-hunt-among-oddballs beats without many surprises. The ensemble acting is competent and occasionally charming, keeping the comedy grounded. Cinematography is workmanlike, doing little to distinguish itself visually beyond standard genre conventions. The film has modest novelty in its Spanish comedic sensibility and quirky character ensemble, though it doesn't break new ground for the genre. The ending resolves somewhat flatly, failing to deliver a truly satisfying payoff to the comic tension built throughout.
