No one thought Donna would go very far. But when she sets her sights on becoming a first-class international flight attendant, Donna throws caution to the wind and takes off in pursuit of her dream. The ride is anything but smooth, however, and Donna's laugh-packed journey of a lifetime is rocked by more turbulence than she bargained for.
View from the Top is a formulaic romantic comedy that never rises above its generic small-town-girl-chases-dream premise. The plot is predictable and recycled, the acting is serviceable but underused (even with Gwyneth Paltrow, Mark Ruffalo, and Candice Bergen in the cast), and the cinematography is flat TV-movie quality. The film offers little novelty, following the well-worn path of countless similar comedies without a distinctive voice or memorable visual style. The ending resolves in exactly the way audiences expect from the first act, with no surprises. It's a harmless but unremarkable entry in the early-2000s romantic comedy genre.
