Police Academy: Mission to Moscow (1994)

Quartile rating: 4.5/10 · 1 rating

The Russians seek help in dealing with the Mafia from the veterans of the Police Academy. They head off to Moscow, in order to find evidence against Konstantin Konali, who marketed a computer game that everyone in the world is playing.

The Quartile Take

The seventh and final Police Academy film is widely regarded as the nadir of the franchise. The plot is thin and incoherent, built around a tired fish-out-of-water premise in Moscow with a nonsensical video game MacGuffin. The recurring gag characters feel exhausted after six prior outings, and the novelty of the original ensemble comedy has long since evaporated. The ending resolves nothing memorable and the film faded into obscurity almost immediately upon release. Even by the low standards of late-franchise comedy sequels, this one is considered a genuine misfire.
