The Bad Guys 2 (2025)

Quartile rating: 7.5/10 · 2 ratings

The now-reformed Bad Guys are trying (very, very hard) to be good, but instead find themselves hijacked into a high-stakes, globe-trotting heist, masterminded by a new team of criminals they never saw coming: The Bad Girls.

The Quartile Take

The Bad Guys 2 follows a familiar sequel formula—reformed heroes reluctantly pulled back into criminal schemes—and introduces a gender-flipped antagonist team (The Bad Girls) as its central twist, which feels more like a marketing hook than a genuinely fresh concept. The animation maintains the stylish, comic-book-inspired aesthetic of the original without meaningfully elevating it. Voice performances are competent and energetic within the family-animation register. The globe-trotting heist structure is fun and kinetic but recycled from countless caper films. The ending resolves predictably within genre expectations. A solid, enjoyable sequel that doesn't embarrass the original but adds little that's distinctive or memorable.
