When the girl of his dreams is kidnapped, everyman Nate turns his inability to feel pain into an unexpected strength in his fight to get her back.
Novocaine (2025) is a reasonably entertaining action-comedy thriller built around a genuinely fun high concept — a man with congenital insensitivity to pain becomes an unlikely action hero. The premise gives it some novelty points, though the execution follows fairly predictable genre beats: everyman hero, kidnapped love interest, escalating violence played for dark laughs. The plot is functional but formulaic beyond its hook, the acting is competent without being remarkable, and the cinematography is serviceable genre work. The ending resolves things in a fairly conventional, unsurprising way without much punch. Solid mid-tier genre entertainment that delivers on its premise without transcending it.
