Levon Cade left behind a decorated military career in the black ops to live a simple life working construction. But when his boss's daughter, who is like family to him, is taken by human traffickers, his search to bring her home uncovers a world of corruption far greater than he ever could have imagined.
A Working Man is a solid but thoroughly formulaic Jason Statham vehicle that follows the well-worn 'retired lethal operative goes on a rescue mission' template. The plot offers little surprise — corruption and trafficking conspiracies are staples of the genre — and the cinematography is functional but unremarkable. Statham delivers his reliable stoic intensity, elevating what's on the page, and the ending provides adequate closure without much flair. Novelty is low given how closely it mirrors prior films in this mold (Man on Fire, The Beekeeper). Overall a competent mid-tier action thriller that satisfies genre fans without distinguishing itself.
