Three female employees of the Federal Reserve plot to steal money that is about to be destroyed.
Mad Money is a light, formulaic heist comedy that doesn't bring much new to the genre. The premise of stealing shredded Federal Reserve money has some charm, but the plot is thin and predictable throughout. The three leads—Diane Keaton, Queen Latifah, and Katie Holmes—bring enough charisma and chemistry to elevate the material above its script, making the acting the clear highlight. Cinematography is workmanlike with nothing distinctive. As a remake of a British TV film, novelty is limited, and the ending, while tidy, lacks punch or surprise.
