Sacha is a real seducer, a man with no ties or emotional or professional. Charlotte is a modern and independent woman, but barely has time to care for their three children. While Sacha and Charlotte are, at first glance, two incompatible beings, when they meet soon discover that they are quite complementary and need each other.

The Quartile Take

Happiness Never Comes Alone is a pleasant but formulaic French romantic comedy that follows a predictable trajectory. The plot hits familiar beats of the mismatched lovers who gradually discover they complement each other, with the added complication of three children from a previous relationship. Sophie Marceau and Gad Elmaleh bring charm and chemistry that elevates the material above its generic premise, but the script offers little that hasn't been seen before in the genre. Cinematography is competent and capably renders Parisian settings with warmth. The ending resolves as expected with little surprise. Novelty is low — this is a by-the-numbers romantic comedy that brings nothing distinctive in conception or voice.
