A realtor is pulled back into the life he left behind after his former partner-in-crime resurfaces with an ominous message. With his crime-lord brother also on his trail, he must confront his past and the history he never fully buried.
Love Hurts (2025) is a fairly generic action-comedy that blends martial arts set pieces with a hidden-past narrative without much originality. The plot recycles familiar tropes — reluctant ex-hitman dragged back in, crime lord sibling, Valentine's Day backdrop — without subverting them in interesting ways. The acting is serviceable but unremarkable, with the comedic and romantic elements feeling underdeveloped. Cinematography is the relative bright spot, with the action sequences showing some visual competence and kinetic energy. Novelty is low given how formulaic the combination of real estate comedy and violent past feels, echoing countless similar films. The ending wraps up predictably without earning much emotional payoff.
