The Hidden is a genuine cult gem that blends buddy-cop action with body-horror sci-fi in a way that feels distinctly its own — the alien parasite concept executed with real energy and wit earns it high Novelty marks. The plot is functional and entertaining without being particularly sophisticated, moving briskly through its body-hopping premise. Acting is solid across the board with Kyle MacLachlan bringing an enjoyably off-kilter quality and Michael Nouri grounding the film. Cinematography is competent genre work but unremarkable — nothing visually distinctive beyond serviceable mid-80s aesthetic. The ending wraps things up with a crowd-pleasing but slightly predictable emotional beat that works without being especially memorable.
