Lina Inverse and Naga the White Serpent are back! What begins as a routine bandit-stomping turns into the adventure of a lifetime involving magical golems, an ancient Elven weapon and even someone bent on destroying the world. It's a predicament only Lina and Naga could get themselves in to.
Slayers Return is a middling OVA entry in the Slayers franchise. The plot is a fairly formulaic adventure — bandits, ancient weapons, world-threatening villain — that hits familiar beats without much surprise. The voice acting captures the comedic chemistry between Lina and Naga reasonably well, a highlight of the production. The animation and cinematography are competent mid-90s OVA work but unremarkable, lacking the visual ambition of more prestigious productions of the era. Novelty is low; this is a by-the-numbers sequel OVA that recycles the franchise's established comedic and action formula without adding anything distinctive. The ending wraps up predictably with little lasting impact.
