New York, I Love You delves into the intimate lives of New Yorkers as they grapple with, delight in and search for love. Journey from the Diamond District in the heart of Manhattan, through Chinatown and the Upper East Side, towards the Village, into Tribeca, and Brooklyn as lovers of all ages try to find romance in the Big Apple.
New York, I Love You is an uneven anthology of short romantic vignettes set across the city's boroughs. As with most omnibus films, quality varies wildly by segment — some vignettes land with charm and genuine emotion while others feel slight or underdeveloped. The ensemble cast is impressive on paper (Natalie Portman, Shia LaBeouf, Orlando Bloom, Ethan Hawke, etc.) and performances are generally competent, though the short format rarely allows actors room to breathe. Cinematography captures New York attractively but without particular distinction. The anthology format, borrowed directly from Paris, je t'aime, feels derivative rather than fresh, and the film never coheres into more than the sum of its parts. The closing movement lacks a satisfying cumulative payoff, leaving the film feeling pleasant but forgettable.
