Jimmy Neutron is a boy genius and way ahead of his friends, but when it comes to being cool, he's a little behind. All until one day when his parents, and parents all over Earth are kidnapped by aliens, it's up to him to lead all the children of the world to rescue their parents.
Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius is a competent early 2000s CGI animated adventure that benefits from a distinct visual style and a charming central concept of a boy-genius inventor saving the day. The CGI animation, while dated now, was groundbreaking for its time as a feature-length fully computer-animated film from a non-Pixar/DreamWorks studio, earning above-average marks for cinematography. The novelty is reasonable given its unique aesthetic and quirky sci-fi inventions, though it doesn't transcend its genre. The plot is fairly formulaic — kidnapped parents, ragtag kids save the day — and the ending resolves too neatly and quickly to leave much impression. Voice acting is serviceable but not particularly memorable. It's a fun, mid-tier animated family film that holds a nostalgic place but doesn't excel in most craft dimensions.
