After the defeat of their old arch nemesis, The Shredder, the Turtles have grown apart as a family. Struggling to keep them together, their rat sensei, Splinter, becomes worried when strange things begin to brew in New York City.
TMNT (2007) is a competent but somewhat thin entry in the franchise. The plot about the turtles' family fracture and an ancient curse/monster threat is serviceable but underdeveloped, failing to deliver meaningful emotional payoff. The voice cast performs adequately, with some standout work giving the characters personality. Visually, the all-CGI approach was a notable step up from the live-action films and features some stylish action sequences and moody New York atmosphere, though it lacks the cinematic ambition of top-tier animated features. Novelty is low — it largely follows franchise formula and doesn't reinvent or distinguish itself in a meaningful way. The ending feels rushed and unsatisfying, resolving the monster threat and the brothers' conflict too quickly and neatly without earning the emotional beats.
