Quartile rating: 5.5/10 · 1 rating
Two young wolves at opposite ends of their pack's social order are thrown together into a foreign land and need each other to return home, but love complicates everything.
Alpha and Omega is a middling animated family film that fails to distinguish itself in any meaningful way. The plot is a formulaic forbidden-romance road-trip story that borrows liberally from better films without adding anything fresh. The voice acting is serviceable but unremarkable, with the talent largely wasted on thin characters. The animation is below the standard of major studio releases of its era, looking cheap and lacking visual flair. The Romeo-and-Juliet-among-wolves premise had potential but is executed in a by-the-numbers fashion with no distinctive voice or vision. The ending resolves predictably with no surprises. A thoroughly average animated feature that offers little to distinguish it from countless similar efforts.
